Dr. Reddy is currently non-executive Chairman at Shantha Biotechnics, a division of Sanofi-Aventis. Dr. Reddy founded Shantha Biotechnics in 1992 with the objective of developing recombinant based vaccines and therapeutic proteins for human healthcare. The mission is to produce cost-effective human healthcare products to reach the common individual at an affordable price while maintaining the highest international standard of quality. The products that were developed from Shantha Biotechnics apart from Hepatitis-B vaccine are Tetravalent vaccine (DPT+Hep-B), Pentavalent vaccine (DPT+Hep-B+Hib), TT, Cholera and others. He has initiated collaborative work with The Johns Hopkins University, the National Institute of Health (NIH) and serves on a number of Boards of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. He has received the Padma Bhushan Award in 2005 from the Government of India, the third highest civilian award. In addition, he was named as Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the year in 2000 for Health Care and Life Sciences. Dr. Reddy holds a number of other distinguished honors and awards. He is an Engineering graduate from Andhra University (1970) and received his MBA from Osmania University (1980).
