“The technical challenges of medical imaging have a lot of overlap with those you see in high-frequency algorithmic trading - efficient calculation, intelligent distribution, and regulatory compliance. With medical imaging, every file is a big-data problem and the decisions made on how to handle that data can have a huge impact on a company's operating expenses and its success or failure.
Computers and I grew up side-by-side. When I was in school, everyone knew PCs were going to be important, but nobody knew why. In the decades since, the ability of well-written, well-architected code to disrupt every aspect of our society, for better or worse, has increased exponentially. The ability to point at the company I joined and say, 'We're improving people's lives' was very important to me when I was considering where I wanted to work next. In his role as Director, Engineering, Jake will assume responsibility for designing and developing key infrastructure components.
